Practical laboratory is equipped with 90 monocular, compound microscopes. The department is primararily engaged in teaching MBBS graduate course. The degree being affiliated to the Pondicherry University, the curriculum and syllabus is as per their norms. The teaching schedule consists of 100 hours didactic lectures, 120 hours of practicals besides 10 hours tutorials, 10 hours seminars and 10 hours integrated teaching modules, comprising a total of 250 hours. The first batch of MBBS undergraduates have enrolled in August 2011, they are due to appear for the University examination in December 2012. The laboratory also imparts hands-on training to B Sc (MLT) and B Sc (Allied Microbiology) students of the Pondicherry University.
