Amongst the various specialties in modern medicine, ENT (Otorhinolaryngology) has evolved remarkably in recent times. The availability of better microscopes, endoscopes, powered instrumentation, and efficient surgical techniques has led to an unequivocal change in the dynamics of this field.\u00a0<\/p>

The department of ENT at IGMCRI, Puducherry was established in 2007. Since then the department has experienced faculties & dedicated Senior & Junior Residents, who run the department efficiently. The department has 30 beds dedicated to inpatient care & Operation Theatre (1 main & 1 minor).<\/p>

The department provides OPD and IPD services to assess and treat Ear, Nose, Throat, and head neck diseases. The outpatient department is equipped with a 0 degree & 30 degrees Hopkins rod Nasal endoscope for diagnostic & therapeutic examination of nose, larynx, and pharynx.<\/p>

The ENT outpatient department has qualified and experienced Audiologists & Speech therapists. The Audiolab is equipped with an audiometer, tympanometer, OAE, and BERA for evaluation of hearing and vertigo.<\/p>

The department has also been playing a prominent role in the academic and research activities by actively participating in various CMEs (continued medical education) and CPCs (clinicopathologic committee) within the institute. The department has been guiding undergraduate students to conduct ICMR sponsored STS projects regularly.<\/p>
