Pathology is a bridging discipline between the clinical and pre clinical subjects within the medical curriculum. The department of pathology is well equipped and adequately staffed and caters to the diagnostic needs of the hospital and teaching of the students. The department consists of histopathology, haematology, cytology sections and blood bank. There are two student labs which are well furnished with microscopes, instruments and other teaching materials. The departmental library with more than 100 books and museum with more than 400 mounted and unmounted specimens are available for teaching and learning.<\/div>
The faculty are engaged in routine diagnostic work and actively involved in didactic lectures, practical\u2019s, small group teaching, integrated teaching and tutorials.<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The objectives & mission of the department of pathology, IGMC&RI, Puducherry is to provide excellent teaching, research, patient care and community service to meet the health needs of the area; this will be accomplished by making optimal use of human and financial resources.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Dr. Banushree graduated from Bangalore Medical College, India followed by DNB(Pathology) , MNAMS, Fellow of Royal college of pathologists, London, UK and started her career in Pathology in 2008 as a faculty in Private Medical College. In 2013, She joined as a faculty in AIIMS, Bhubaneswar and established the department. Presently working as Professor & HOD of Pathology in Indira Gandhi Government medical College, Puducherry. She is interested in Oncopathology, dermatopathology & electron microscopy. She is serving as editor-in-chief of Indian Journal of Pathology and oncology. She is in the editorial board of various Journals like journal of Oncocytology, world journal of clinical cases and Elsevier. She is subject expert in OMICS, USA. \u00a0Serving as a reviewer for international journals like springer, BMJ, Baishideng and has around sixty publications in national and international journals to her credit.\u00a0 She has authored chapters like pathogenesis of CNS fungal infections for springer publication. <\/strong>She has participated as resource person, presented papers and posters in CMEs. \u00a0<\/strong>She has Received IESRF Best Editor Award under IESRF Research Awards in 2021, 22 and 23.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
