Activities & Events Ph

1. The Department of Pharmacology conducted a symposium entitled ‘Better medicines for children in India’ at Hyderabad on 15^th Dec 2010 during the 43^rd Annual Conference of IPS.
2. The department has successfully completed the WHO sponsored project entitled “Clinical Trials in Children: An Assessment of the Information in the Clinical Trials Registry – India” and submitted the report to WHO – SEARO, New Delhi in January 2011.
3. It also organised “Informal Consultation on Children’s Clinical Trial registered in the Clinical Trials Registry – India” on 11 March 2011 at Hotel Annamalai International. This was attended by representatives from WHO, Geneva, WHO – SEARO, New Delhi, CTRI and experts in the field of pharmacology and pediatrics.
4. A wrap up meet of ‘Taking the Guess Work Out of Pediatric Age Estimation (TAPE)’ project was jointly organized and conducted by Departments of Pharmacology and Pediatrics, IGMC&RI on September 22, 2011 which was attended by pharmacologists and pediatricians of Puducherry and Tamil Nadu.
5. Periodic Pharmacovigilance Meetings are held in the Institute to inculcate awareness and encourage voluntary reporting of adverse drug reactions by clinicians of IGMC & RI.
6. A study was conducted on the prescription pattern and drug utilization and the report presented towards betterment of rational prescribing practice among clinicians of IGMC & RI.
7. The Pharmacology department has also developed a Hospital Formulary.
8. Following a series of meetings with the clinicians the Hospital formulary has been pruned based on recent National and WHO Essential Drug List which is followed currently in the hospital.
9. Faculty members (Drs. Ratinder Jhaj and Sachidananda Adiga) were resource persons for ‘Workshop on Diabetes Mellitus for medical Officers in Primary Health Centre’ organized and conducted by Department of Community Medicine, IGMC & RI at Puducherry.
10. All the faculty members participated in the Pharmacovigilance Awareness Program conducted at JIPMER, Puducherry during March, 2011.
11. Conducted Pre – Conference Workshop on Basic Principles in Pharmacoeconomics at IPS – 2011 at Manipal.
12. Conducted National Level Pharamacology Quiz for Post – Graduate Students at Mainpal during IPS – 2011.
