CME programme on “EXPLORING AN ENIGMA – THE LIMBIC SYSTEM” on 19th March 2016
The CME started with an inaugural function presided by our Director, Dr. V. Govindaraj, & our Dean Dr. N. Sivagnanam. The topics discussed in the CME were “Anatomy & connections of Limbic system” Dr. T. L. Anbumani BSc, MBBS, M.D., M.S. Professor & Head of Anatomy & Vice Principal, Sri Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Medical Sciences, Mathuranthagam, Chennai., “Live Dissection & Demonstration of Limbic System in cadaveric human brain” by Dr. V. Muniappan , MBBS, M.S, Professor & Head of Anatomy & Vice Principal, RMMCH, Annamalai University, Chidambaram, “Functional & Clinical Significance of Limbic system” by Dr. S. Meenakshi Sundaram, MBBS, M.D., D.M, Senior Consultant Neurologist, Apollo Specialty Hospitals, Madurai and “Emotional Expression of Limbic System” by Dr. S. Sudhakar, MBBS, MD, Senior Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Chengalpattu Medical College, Chengalapattu. More than 130 participants which includes faculty, post graduates of various disciplines and under graduates from various medical colleges in around Pondicherry and Tamil Nadu attended the CME.
CME programme on “Genodynamics of Neurodevelopmental Disorders” on 8th March 2014
The Faculty, Department of Anatomy, under the guidance of Dr S. Aruna, Professor and Head of Anatomy has organized a CME (Continuing Medical Education) programme on “Genodynamics of Neurodevelopmental Disorders” on 8th March 2014 at Indira Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute (a Govt. of Puducherry Institute), Kathirkamam, Puducherry.The CME started with an inaugural function presided by Dr P. Jayakumar, Director, IGMC&RI. The topics discussed in the CME were “Embryogenesis of Nervous System” by Dr Usha Kothandaraman, M.S., HOD, Anatomy, ESI Medical College & PGIMSR, Chennai, “Congenital Anomalies of Nervous System” by Dr V. R. Roopesh Kumar., M.S., M.Ch., HOD, Neurosurgery, JIPMER, Puducherry and “Gene expression in Neurogenesis and its Malformations” by Dr Rema Devi, M.S., MNAMS., HOD, Anatomy, St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore. More than 130 participants which includes faculty, post graduate and under graduate students from various medical colleges in around Pocndicherry and Tamilnadu attended the CME

Events & activities undertaken in 2011 (faculty):
- The faculty members:
- Partook in the workshop organized by the department of anaesthesiology by active dissection and demonstration of the anatomy of nerve blocks to the delegates on 22nd February, 2012.
- Took part in the CME organized by PETA on ‘alternatives to the use of animals in medical education and research’ held at JIPMER on January, 2012.
- Participated in the 34th annual conference of the Tamil Nadu Anatomy Association held at Melmaruvathur Adhiparasakthi Medical College, Melmaruvathur on 15th and 16th of October, 2011.
- Attended the CME ‘facial spaces of head & neck’ at Chetinad medical college, Chennai on 2011.
